I write and arrange music, mainly classical and folk. My first instrument was a classical guitar, and my lessons started at age 13 in San Miguel, Philippines. My family lived on a naval base there and I started writing pieces for my new guitar. Since the Philippines were part of the Spanish empire for three hundred years, it was there that I developed a love of Spanish-influenced guitar.
Back in the states, I started classical piano lessons at age 16 and began writing works for piano. I continued my piano lessons in college and after law school.
In 2002, with the encouragement of my piano teacher, Lisa Weiss-Cornelius, I tried my hand at arranging. The first public performance was I Wonder As I Wander that year in Riverside, Illinois at Ascension Lutheran Church featuring Darcy Lewis, viola, Dan Wang, cello and myself on piano.
Since then I have composed 15 original works for various combinations of piano, guitar and strings, and 12 arrangements. Here’s a list of instruments, equipment and software I use for composing and recording.
I live in Florida with my wife, Sheila, and continue to compose and arrange. I’ve also teamed up with Mary Boom, a violinist from Avon, Minnesota, to perform recitals. I’ve only recently started publishing my music and am delighted to share it with you.
